Tendo-Ryu Naginatajutsu

The Naginata (na-ghee-na’ta) is a seven foot Japanese spear (halberd), characterized by flowing, sweeping movements. At one time, Naginata was the only martial art that could be studied by Japanese women, practiced by the wives and daughters of Samurai. With emphasis placed on etiquette, it was a method of character training and self defense. Nowadays, it is enjoyed by men and women of all ages, from the youthful to the youthful-thinking.

Classes are led by Mr. Kelly Knight. We are affiliated with the New York Nichibukan. If you are looking for Tendo-ryu instruction but aren't in our geographical area, please check out our friends at the Northern Virginia Tendokan. There are also several fine schools in California, but we are not affiliated with them. There is no ranking available in this martial art.
